Post Video on Canvas Discussion Using Google Drive You can record a video using your computer or phone and share it in Canvas via Google Drive. This is a workaround for browsers that do not support the media recorder in Canvas or for videos larger than 500 MB. Video File Formats supported (as of 7/15/2020): WebM files (Vp8 video codec; Vorbis Audio codec) MPEG4, 3GPP, and MOV files (h264 and MPEG4 video codecs; AAC audio codec) AVI (MJPEG video codec; PCM audio) MPEGPS (MPEG2 video codec; MP2 audio) WMV FLV (Adobe - FLV1 video codec, MP3 audio) MTS OGG Uploading your video to Google Drive Open any browser and navigate to drive.google.com. Log into or switch to your WFU Google Account (if necessary). Click on the New button. Click on File Upload. Your video will now upload. This can take some time depending on connection speed and file size. Upload Complete will appear when finished. Find the uploaded file in your list of files. Right click on the that line then click on Get Shareable Link. Click where it says Restricted and then click on Wake Forest University. Click the Done button when finished. Wait for the video to process so it is playable in Google Drive. Depending on the size of your video will dictate the length of the process. When the icon changes to a thumbnail with a play button, the processing is complete. Embedding your Google Drive video into a Canvas Discussion In the Canvas discussion, click the Reply button in the lower left of the post you wish to reply to. Click the More External Tools button and select Google Apps. Click the Authorize button in the bottom left of the popup that appears. If you get a loading circle that doesn't go away, click on the X in the upper right and go back to step 2 to reopen the popup. In the window that appears you may be prompted to log in or choose an account. Log into or select your WFU email account if prompted. Then click the Allow button. The new window will close and you will see a list of all the folders and files in your WFU Google Drive account. Click on your video file to select it, and click the Embed button at the bottom. Type any other text you wish to have in the reply and click Post Reply in the bottom right. Your reply should be posted with the video inside it. Click on the video to play it.
