Unified messaging is the process of combining different messaging and communication processes within a single interface or system. At WFU, that means that phone messages can be delivered to the voicemail system and/or to your email account.
There are two options for receiving your voicemail in your email account:
Phone and Email - this option sends the message to your voicemail inbox and sends a copy of the message to your email (.wav file). Voicemails are accessible from the voicemail system and from your email. When you have a new message, the new message indicator or red light on your office phone will be illuminated. To turn off the new message indicator light, you must log in and listen to the message from the voicemail system. Listening to a message from your email will not turn of the new message indicator light on your office phone.
This is the default delivery setting for School of Business phone lines.
- Email Only - this option sends a copy of the message to your email (.wav file) and voicemails ONLY accessible from your email. The new message indicator or red light on your office phone will never be illuminated.
