Cisco Unified Messaging (Voicemail to Email) [Faculty & Staff]
Unified messaging is the process of combining different messaging and communication processes within a single interface or system. At WFU, that means that phone messages can be delivered to the voicemail system and/or to your email account.
There are two options for receiving your voicemail in your email account:
- Phone and Email - this option sends the message to your voicemail inbox and sends a copy of the message to your email (.wav file). Voicemails are accessible from the voicemail system and from your email. When you have a new message, the new message indicator or red light on your office phone will be illuminated. To turn off the new message indicator light, you must log in and listen to the message from the voicemail system. Listening to a message from your email will not turn off the new message indicator light on your office phone.
This is the default delivery setting for School of Business phone lines.
-
Email Only - this option sends a copy of the message to your email (.wav file) and voicemails ONLY accessible from your email. The new message indicator or red light on your office phone will never be illuminated.
By default, new WFUSB employees will have this service configured to send voicemails to your Email Only. If you prefer to set this option to Phone and Email, please visit the Request Unified Messaging page on AskDeac so that you may submit a ticket to Telecom. After submission, the requestor will receive an email confirming the ticket being generated. Telecommunications will reach out to you via email when your voicemail settings have been processed.
