Malware/Virus Protection Software
Malware is an all-encompassing term that includes many forms of intentionally malicious software. Malware includes computer viruses, worms, Trojans, ransomware, scareware, spyware, cryptocurrency miners, adware, and other programs intended to exploit computer resources for nefarious purposes.
Signs that your computer may be infected by malware or a virus:
- Your PC is running unusually slow.
- Ads are popping up even when your browser isn't running.
- Your default browser home page has changed.
- Anti-spyware and/or antivirus applications aren't working correctly.
- Presence of rogue antivirus packages that state that the computer is infected.
Malware and viruses spread through a variety of methods, including the following:
- Bundled Free Software Programs
- File Sharing, BitTorrent, and other Peer-to-peer File Sharing Services

- Scareware - Software pretending to be a security alert that tricks a user into installing it
